Orthodontics

Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, care and treatment of jaw bone growth disorders, developmental defects of the dentition and the correction of tooth position. More generally, orthodontics deals with the improvement of functions related to the stomatognathic apparatus: mastication, phonation, swallowing and breathing, as well as aesthetic ones. When the mandibular arch and the maxillary arch, for reasons of physical constitution or irregular tooth development, do not match perfectly, they create an aesthetically visible misalignment, but above all one that is responsible for disorders of various kinds: headaches, inflammation of the cervical vertebrae, muscular tension, and visual and hearing disorders.

Purpose of orthodontic treatment

The purpose of orthodontics is to correct defects in the dentition, to ensure a correct mouth closure and a well-groomed smile.Through the application of orthodontic appliances, one can intervene in various situations that can create aesthetic discomfort, but also considerable health problems. The patient can be helped to close any large gaps between teeth, straighten and align teeth to improve occlusion. These improvements also positively affect important daily gestures, such as breathing, swallowing and phonetics. Finally, gum health and the health of the mouth as a whole can be significantly improved, thus preventing the teeth themselves from wearing out over time.orthodontics is therefore not a mere aesthetic whim, but encompasses a number of very important functional aspects that are more difficult to improve.to achieve the desired results, there are various orthodontic techniques available, which can be roughly divided into two groups.mobile orthodontic appliances can be used, which can be removed as required, or fixed ones, which will remain installed until the end of the orthodontic treatment
